The Mission Bay Aquatic Center offers several Community Safety Education courses. Whether you are looking to get or renew your CPR and First Aid certifications, or would like to become a safer boater, we have a course for you. Get certified in our CPR and First Aid classes and help save a life today. We also offer a boating safety course for those looking to learn safe boating procedures and rules.

4 Hours. 1 Class Session. CPR certification can give you the confidence to know that you can help a loved one or person suffering a medical emergency if the need ever arose. This course covers adult, child and infant CPR as well as the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Successful completion of this course will earn you an American Heart Association CPR certification with AED supplement.

FIRST AID CERTIFICATION COURSE

4 Hours. 1 Class Session. First Aid is the immediate and temporary proper aid provided to a sick or injured person until medical treatment can be provided. This course will teach you simple life-saving medical techniques that an individual without formal medical training can perform with minimal equipment in an emergency. Successful completion of this course will earn you an American Heart Association First Aid certification good for three year.

CALIFORNIA BOATING SAFETY COURSE

The Mission Bay Aquatic Center, in cooperation with the California Department of Boating and Waterways, is offering a certification course in basic seamanship and boat handling. Topics covered are: boat hulls, coastal navigation, weather, rules of the road, knots, anchoring, accidents, first aid, outboard and inboard engines, and terminology. Students will get practical experience with small motor boats, trailering and night and day operation. Course instruction is offered free of charge; however a $70 lab fee will be charged to cover expenses for practical on-the-water sessions.
