MBAC instructor wins at Wakeboarding World Championships

Local women’s wakeboarding phenom, and Mission Bay Aquatic Center instructor, Kim Kirch won the junior women’s division at the 17th annual WWA World Wakeboard Championship in Orlando, Florida.  Kim got her start wakeboarding when she was 13 as a camper at MBAC.  Since then she has competed in several high profile competitions throughout the country.  In addition to wakeboarding, Kim also is active in many other action sports including skateboarding and snowboarding. Kim says she plans to spend the immediate future travelling and competing hoping to establish herself in various action sports communities.

Kim getting her trophy

"I really want to be the all around girls action sport athlete so I pretty much wakeboard, skate and surf every day, that is unless there is snow on the ground," says Kim. "So I guess we'll see where life takes me... "

You can see a video of Kim riding with Liquid Force pro riders Melissa Marquardt and Miku Asai at the Wake World website at http://www.wakeworld.com/news/videos/kim-kirch.html.  Congratulations Kim!
