SAILING

Back to Previous Page

Ashley Rose started sailing when her parents enrolled her in a junior sailing program. Ever since she has been hooked, eventually moving on to bigger boats--FJs,
420s, Laser Radials, and 29ers. She has sailed throughout the world including Sydney, Australia; Vancouver and Kingston, Canada; and many places in the U.S.
including Rhode Island, New York, Hawaii, Washington. For the past 4 years, she has been part of the UCSD sailing team where she qualified for semi-nationals.
She just graduated from UCSD in June 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. She hopes to get a Masters of Education and a teaching credential to
teach high school chemistry.

What do you love most about teaching sailing?

“I enjoy sharing my love of sailing with others. The best feeling is when your students show up early to rig because they can’t wait to get onto the water. I love teaching and sharing my passions with others, which is why I want to
become a high school chemistry teacher.”
