Monica Thatcher is a sophomore studying Nursing at San Diego State University. She has an avid enthusiasm for all board sports, where she has competed on the SDSU Surf Team and is the currently the captain of the SDSU Snowboard Team. She will be competing in the Volcom Surf Championship later this winter. Monica got her start surfing at the age of 8 where her father used to paddle her out on his longboard. Herfather’s line of work moved them around the world and she has lived in Scotland, Singapore and Texas in addition to San Diego. Why do you love to teach surfing?“I love to give someone some advice and watch them take it in and succeed on the next wave. It’s a great feeling to be able to pass on the stoked feeling you get from surfing.” |
