MBAC shares the fitness benefits of watersports at Triton Day

Students participating in SUP Yoga

The MBAC promo team spent last Saturday explaining the fitness benefits of watersports at UCSD Trition Day, an annual open house event that invites future Tritons and the San Diego community to campus to see what UCSD is all about.

The event showcased the endless opportunities and vibrant campus community at UC San Diego. From a beach party, to a sustainability showcase, car show, college planning session and a health and wellness fair, it featured education and fun for the entire family.  MBAC participated in the health fair where we shared the health benifits of an active lifestyle through watersports. In addition to an information booth and a surf themed photobooth, SUP Yoga instructor Daniel Dominguez performed an on stage Stand Up Paddle Yoga demonstration where many were introduced to the idea of yoga on a floating mat for the first time.

“Judging from the looks one the crowds faces, many have not heard of SUP Yoga before,” said Daniel.  “Afterward there were many people who appeared interested in trying it.”

Over 24,000 prospective students and members of the community attended the event.  For more information on Triton Day please visit http://tritonday.ucsd.edu/experience/ or for more information on SUP Yoga please visit http://blog.mbaquaticcenter.com/2012/02/supyoga-step-beyond-ordinary-yoga.html.
